Don Madaris, 75, of Ruidoso passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 in Ruidoso. He was born July 6, 1939 at Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Don loved music and was a musician with the Fred Warring and The Pennsylvanians. He was a pastor, missionary and recently and led the music service at Community United Methodist Church while leading a Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. He had been a chaplain at the Mission Hospital in Guadalajara, Mexico and Lincoln County Medical Center. He was also involved with the Ruidoso Little Theater and Spencer Theater. He accepted Christ as his savior at the age of 10 and was called to the ministry at a Royal Ambassador Camp Meeting. He moved to Ruidoso in 1993 from Mexico City. He married Kay Weldon on June 30, 1979 in Abilene, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Kay of Ruidoso; 2 sisters, Margaret Luckie and Frances Stanford of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Bill Farris of Amarillo, TX.
Memorial service will be Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in Ruidoso.
