Deverne Torres

Deverne Torres, 87, of Mescalero passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Mescalero. He was born March 10, 1925 at Mescalero and had lived there all of his life. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his children, Orlinda Stevens, Sterling Torres, Lorna Torres, Ermadine Torres, Corina Torres, Michelle Gallerito, Devona Torres, Deverne Torres Jr. and Natalia M. Torres 24 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Dorinda A. Caje and Alden V. Torres siblings, Loretta T. Rice, Herbert Torres, Sturgis Torres and Cecil Kinzhuma.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Mescalero Community Center Gym from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, December 13, at 9:45 AM with burial to follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
