Dennis Earl Andersen, 66, passed away on December 20, 2020, at his home in Capitan, New Mexico. He was born on August 19, 1954, at Camp Lejeune Marine Base in North Carolina to Earl Raymond and Martha Elizabeth (Collums) Andersen.
Dennis graduated from Roswell High School in 1972 after spending a year as an exchange student in Crookwell, New South Wales, Australia. He graduated in 1976 from the University of Texas – Austin with a degree in Psychology and lived most of his life in the Austin, Texas, area where he loved the local music scene. He loved watching movies and spending time with his twins. He taught his daughter to play chess, and recorded comic books on audio for his disabled son. He studied Spanish, and loved watching Spanish soap operas.
He moved to Capitan in March of 2020 to be near his sisters. Dennis loved the mountains and spent time exploring the back roads of Lincoln County. He loved spending time with his family, and was so glad to be with his sister.
He had a booming laugh, and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a solid and dependable man, and his family loved him so much. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
He is survived by his children Earl and Amber, both of Austin, Texas, and sisters Kris Shearer of Capitan and Karen Hamilton of Roswell.
Due to the current pandemic and the desire to keep our loved ones safe during this health crisis, a memorial will be held by the family when we can all safely get together again.
