Delphine Ruth Yahnahki was born July 31, 1929 to Horace Yahnahki and Edna Gallerito and was sibling to Gregory Sago, Edmond Yahnahki, Hilary Sago, Jimmy Yahnahki, Martha Shanta, Hilda Sago and Rhoda Blake and all precede her in death.
She married John Zuazau and he precedes her in death, they had seven children, Imogene Zuazua, Michael Zuazua, John Zuazua, Inez Zuazua, Gifford Zuazua who precedes her in death she is survived by Renalda Scott, and Ella Zuazua. Later in life she married Cecil Kinzhuma Sr. and he precedes her in death. They had three children, Cecil Kinzhuma Jr. who precedes her in death and is survived by Darwin Kinzhuma and Virginia Kinzhuma and became a member of the Mescalero Reformed Church and currently was a member of St. Josephs Mission.
Delphine worked most of her life for the Mescalero Apache Tribe and was also known as a medicine woman for many of the young maidens for our cultural traditions. After her retirement from the tribe, she became a homemaker and as she grew older she was admitted into the Mescalero Care Center. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayer service will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 6:00 PM at St. Josephs Mission where the funeral mass will be on Thursday, January 5, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
