David Ray Johnson, 71, passed away in his sleep at his son's home on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was born April 12, 1947 to Bill and Marian Johnson (Frederick), Greensboro, NC.
David was in the Marines and fought for his country in Vietnam. He was a proud father and grandfather. He enjoyed filming for the Ruidoso Warrior Football Team and cheering on his son and grandchildren in all their sporting endevours. He also enjoyed skydiving and photography. Dave was an employee at Club Gas and to many he was known as "Dave from Club Gas". He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back.
Survivors include his only child, Kief Johnson and his wife Jennifer of Ruidoso, New Mexico; 3 grandchildren Kaylee Steffner and her husband Jonas Steffner of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Parker Johnson and Morgan Johnson, both of Ruidoso, New Mexico; 1 great grandchild, Ellie Renee Steffner of Fayetteville, North Carolina; 1 sister Cathy McNine, of Jonesborough, Tennessee; 1 Niece, Tonya Franklin-King, of Johnson City, Tennessee; friends, co-workers and patrons from Club Gas, of Ruidoso, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Bill Johnson and Marian Johnson, and Niece Nicole McNine.
A time of gathering will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse at Club Gas. Memorial donations can be made to the Warrior Pride Booster Club, 2101 Sudderth Drive, Ruidoso, New Mexico, 88345
