Danitsa Leontine Jackson Hall Frye, Dani was born to David Ernest Jackson and Militsa Stakich Jackson in Santa Fe, NM at the old St. Vincents Hospital on January 23, 1937.
A native New Mexican, Dani grew up living in Santa Fe, Gallup and Clayton where she graduated from Clayton High School. She attended New Mexico AM now New Mexico State University where she majored in English. Upon graduating, she took her first teaching job at Espanola High School and then taught throughout the state for two decades. She met and married first husband Cal Hall in 1961. Eventually the couple settled their family in Gallup where Cal started the UNMGallup branch and Dani, in addition to teaching served on the City Council and later became City Manager of Gallup. She was the first female to serve in both positions and during this time she also served as the President of the New Mexico Municipal League. Dani and her second husband Jim, whom she married June 11, 1981, decided to settle back in Santa Fe in the early 80s. She was CFO of Jims Engineering Firm, EDC Engineering, and active in the League of Women Voters. As such, she was honored by the Santa Fe New Mexican as one of the 2001 People Who Made a Difference.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Calvin Orvice Hall and sisterinlaw Peggy Jackson. She is survived by husband James A. Frye brother David Jackson of Albuquerque, NM favorite aunt, Jeanne Arnold of Andrews, TX son Craig Hall of Atlanta, GA and his wife Polly daughter Leah Neumann of Clovis, NM and her husband Calvin Vinny daughter Micah Woodul of Ruidoso, NM and her husband Chris. Dani also has 6 grandchildren: Michele Garcia, Anne Padilla, Ondrea Barber, Calvin Beavers, Kyler Woodul, Grady Woodul and 5 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 31st at 1:00 p.m. at Gateway Church of Christ 415 Sudderth Dr., Ruidoso, New Mexico. Condolences may be sent in care of Micah Woodul, 204 Snowcap Ruidoso, NM 88345.
