The prayer service for Charles Edgar Hugar, 78, of Mescalero will be Sunday, Sept. 7, at 6:00 PM in the Mescalero Reformed Church, the funeral service will be Monday, Sept. 8, at 10:00 AM in the Mescalero Tribal Center Gym with military burial to follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
Mr. Hugar passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Ruidoso. He was born July 25, 1930 at Altoona, Pennsylvania. He served in the Army making it a carrer and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He moved to Mescalero in 1974 from Apache, Oklahoma. He loved to travel and once a year he and Elbys would travel from California to New York. He married Elbys Naiche on April 17, 1971 at Apache, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elbys; two sisters, Margaret Epolite and ruth Cline; a brother, Howard Hugar Jr.; 8 children, Charles C. Hugar, Clarissa Hugar, Christine Hugar, Margaret Hugar, Christopher Hugar, Curtis Hugar, Robert Hugar, and Ernest Hugar Kadayso; 8 step children, Jackie Blaylock Sr., Dennis Blaylock, Ronnie Blaylock, James Natchez, Troy Blaylock Sr., Joyce Waters, Debi Martinez, and Alda Mae Enjday.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Hugar Sr.; mother and setp father, Mildred and George Blackie; sister, Bertha Fredenburger; grandson, Duane Hugar; great grandson Bryier Allen and great great grandson, Like Hugar.
