Carolyn Dodson

Mrs. Carolyn Dodson, 66, passed July 24, 2009 at her home in Ruidoso, NM.

Mrs. Dodson is survived by her husband Charles H. Dodson, of Ruidoso, NM; a son, Marc C. Dodson of Glendale, AZ; a daughter, Pepper K. DuBois, of Phoenix, AZ; a grand-daughter, Katherine Elyse DuBois, of Phoenix, AZ ; and two nieces, Rachel Ely of Point, TX and Michelle McMullen of Emory TX. She was preceded in death by her father, Marcus Jackson Etter; her mother Johnne Doris Etter, and one sister, Kay Lynn McMullen.

Mrs. Dodson was born Carolyn Joyce Etter on July 26, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA and moved during her early youth to Slaton, TX. She is a graduate of Slaton High School and also attended West Texas State University. She married Charles H. Dodson on June 7, 1963 in Slaton, Texas.

After living in Texas for the majority of her life, Mrs. Dodson and her family moved to Scottsdale, AZ and she and her husband later retired to Ruidoso, NM.

Beginning in high school, Mrs. Dodson began a lifelong passion of playing bridge and in 1986 became a Life Master. She played bridge professionally during the 1980s and 1990s. Mrs. Dodson also enjoyed other pursuits such as reading, traveling, entertaining and spending time with her family and dear friends.

She was a member of Womens Eastern Star, the American Contract Bridge League, the Ruidoso Jockey Club and the First Baptist Church.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held July 26, 2009 at 11:00am at Innsbrook Village Country Clubs Clubhouse in Ruidoso, NM, with brunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Lincoln County Ruidoso, NM.
