Bruce Matson

Bruce W. Matson passed away peacefully, Monday, January 17, 2011. Bruce was born July 30, 1932 in Lexington, Kentucky. The family moved to Texas when he was two years old. He grew up going to schools in Fort Worth, Tx.

He attended UT and Texas Tech, then joined the Navy and went to the U.S. Navy Cadet program in Pensacola, Florida. Bruce got his wings in Hutchinson, Kansas. He got his B.A. in GovernmentInternational Relations at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, California.

Bruce was deployed to Alaska, Japan, Panama, Pacific Islands and retired in Corpus Christi as a Commander after 20 years in the service. He married Ginnie in 1979 and they retired to Ruidoso in 1991.

He is survived by two children, Karen and Mark and his grandchildren, Elliot, Ian and Emma his wife, Ginnie and two stepchildren, Bob and Julie and stepgranddaughter, Sarah. A military memorial service will be held at a later date in Arlington, Tx.

Cremation is under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
