Bobby Gene Potts, 77, of Ruidoso went home to his Precious Lord and Savior, Jesus on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009. He was born July 8, 1931 at New Albany, Mississippi to Lora and Henry Potts who precede him in death. Mr. Potts had served in the Army, the Army Air Corp and the Air Force retiring at a Tech Sergeant. In the Air Force he was a Petroleum Supply Specialist and had received many awards and decorations. He served during World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force he became a certified welder, mechanic and truck driver. He had lived in Ruidoso from April, 1976 until June 1979 then he moved back to Ruidoso in Janaury, 1994 from Lovington. He attended Christ Church in the Downs. He married Maudene Growdon on January 16, 1963 at Carrizozo. He is survived by his wife, Maudene Potts; three sons, Michael Gene Strickland and Richard Anthony Strickland both of Memphis, Tennessee and David William Potts of Ruidoso; a daughter, Kim Ellen Potts of Ruidoso; grandchildren, Ian, Todd, Alana, Rachael, Jody, Courtney Rose, Joseph Brooks, Marcus, Tynasha, Isaac, Nicolette and Joseph Miles Potts; 3 great grandchildren; also a sister Christine Hawkins of Smithville, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his children, Joseph Dean Potts, Donna Lyn Potts and Kara Humphrey Spicer. The family has requested memorials to the Building Fund at Christ Church in the Downs, PO Box 1978, Ruidoso Downs, NM 88346.
