Betty Lee Pippin went to be with her Lord on Good Friday evening, April 6, 2007. Betty was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on February 26, 1933 to William Porter and Hattie McKinney. Betty spent much of her early years growing up in Weed, New Mexico and attended shcoo there. It was in Weed that she learned to cook, garden, can, hunt, camp out and simply enjoy nature and enjoyed going up a canyon and never tired of looking at deer. Betty lived and worked in the field of horse racing for many years, a career that took her from Las Vegas, NV to Lafayette, LA and points in between. When she moved to the Ruidoso area, she first owned and managed a beauty shop in what was the Chaparral Motor Hotel, then went on to manage the InnCredible Restaurant. Betty was associated with the Jockey Club in Ruidoso Downs for 16 years and endeared herself to all the members, owners, horsemen and staff. Betty married Bill Pippin of Ruidoso in April of 1976 and cherished the though of helping to raise Donda and Greg, since she didn't have children of her own. She especially loved to brag on her grandchildren. Betty's life changed in 1998 when she had an experience with the Lord and soon afterward dedicated her life to Him. Since that time her greatest wish was that all people could find and enjoy the Love and Peace she discovered in Jesus Christ. Betty enjoyed going to the Tangled Mane and getting her pedicure by Debbie. She thoroughly enjoyed her church families at Christ Community Church in Alamogordo and at J Bar J Church in Ruidoso. Betty is survived by her husband, Bill of the home; her precious little Dacshunds, Skoshi and Misha; two children, Donda Richardson and her husband Clifford of Capitan and Greg Pippin and his wife Maria of Frederick, MD; her sister, Billie Dentler and nephew Todd Lee Dentler of Ruidoso; six grandchildren, Weston and Robbie Lee Richardson of Capitan, Britanny Anne of California, Joseph Pippin, Josh and Jolee Beazell of Frederick, MD; four sisters-in-law, Beth McKinney of Albuquerque, Joe Ann Bonds and husband Milton of Alto, Linda Williams and husband Mike of Moreno Valley, CA and Ginger Tate and friend Steve of Clovis and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
