April Kastman Capper

April Kastman Capper, born on December 25, 1949, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, gracefully rode into the next chapter of her journey on August 2, 2024. She was a talented court reporter from 1969 to 1999 and touched the lives of many through her dedication.

April's story took a beautiful turn when she crossed paths with James Capper in Florida. Their shared passion for horses not only united their hearts but also led to the blossoming of a deep and enduring love. In 1991, they exchanged vows, accenting their remarkable journey together since 1981. In 2003, April and James embarked on a new adventure as they made Ruidoso their home.

Among April's proudest accomplishments was her skillful equestrianism. From her teenage years spent mastering saddle seat riding to her ventures into dressage and western riding in Florida, she exuded grace and expertise in every stride. Her transition into becoming a whip driver illustrated her unwavering spirit and determination to excel in all that she pursued.

Apart from her remarkable career and passion for horses, April was cherished for her warmth and kindness towards those around her. Her gentle presence and genuine smile will forever remain etched in the memories of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

April is survived by her beloved husband, James Capper, who stood by her side through life's joys and challenges. In honoring April's life, a visitation will take place on August 7, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso. The funeral service will be held on August 8, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM at the same location followed by interment at Gavilan Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ruidoso.
