Andrew Hale

It is with regret that, we, the family of Andrew T. Hale of Ruidoso Downs, NM announce his passing on April 21, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. Andy was a lifelong resident of Ruidoso Downs and a descendent of the Lincoln County Hale pioneering ranch family.

Andy was born September 30, 1942 to Alexanderina and William Washington Hale. He attended and graduated school from Ruidoso. He enlisted in the U S Army serving in Germany, Vietnam and various locations in the United States. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He then worked for the US Forest Service as a Hotshot Foreman for 32 years and later owned and operated Cowboy Up bulls for the Professional Bull Riding Association and was owneroperator of Andy Hale Cowboy Up Cattle Trucking and transported cattle throughout the United States for past twenty years. At the time of his death, he was completing his final run.

Andy is survived by brothers David R. Hale and wife Cheryl of Roswell, NM and Jonathan J. Hale and wife Carol of Las Cruces and Ruidoso, NM. He is also survived by son, Lance Hale of Alto, NM, daughter Kristie Terrel and husband Tommy of Austin, Texas, nephew Johnny Lynn Hale of Phoenix, AZ and niece, Echo Hale Garland of Mineral Wells, TX, grandson Gearon Hale of Alamogordo, NM and Brett Story, Cassidy Story, and Regan Story of Austin, TX as well as a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ena Hale, a brother, Peter William Hale.

Andy loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and bird watching. He will be remembered for his booming voice, love of sports and great sense of humor.

A celebration of Andys life will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Gateway Church of Christ beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jimmy Sportsman officiating. Burial will follow at the Hale Cemetery with full Military Honors. Family and friends are invited to attend a carry-in luncheon at Gateway Church of Christ following burial. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and fond memories of our brother, father, and grandfather.
