Alfred Walters Baca, 85, of Ruidoso Downs, NM passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Pathways Hospice Center in Loveland, CO.
Born in Otero County on January 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Ida Walters Claude Holguin and Antonio Luna Baca. Alfred was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War with the 71st Infantry Division in Alaska. He was a member of Saint Eleanor Catholic Church and he retired from Holoman Air Force Base as a fire fighter, with 30 years of service. Alfred enjoyed dancing, attending his granddaughters rodeos, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Stella Trujillo Baca, daughter of Fidel Archiveque Trujillo and Apolonia Madrid Benevidez, his two daughters Gail Richard Edmondson of Fort Collins, CO and Monica Perteet Marty Millar of Ruidoso Downs, NM, his four granddaughters Jessica, Kristen Trevor Packard, Robin, and Brittany, and his two great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Blayne, brother Clay Holguin, sister Diana Nick Balogh, brotherinlaw Don Fisher, sisterinlaw Janice Baca, uncle Nacario Walters, several nieces and nephews, and extend family and friends. Alfred is predeceased by his brother Ernest Baca, and sister Lorenza Fisher, also known as Helen.
The Rosary will be Friday, November 7, at 9:00 AM at St. Eleanors Catholic Church with the funeral mass following at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery at Bent, NM. A reception will be at Noon at the Ruidoso Senior Center.
